Climatix POL programming

We develop control applications for the POL controllers of the Siemens Climatix family - from the POL636 and POL687 to the POL648, POL688 and POL698. For air handling units, heat pumps, chillers and heat generators, including large plants with many extension modules and several bus systems.

The POL controllers at a glance

The POL controllers are the modular Climatix controllers from Siemens. They are expanded with extension modules - communication modules on the left, I/O and communication extensions on the right - which makes them suitable for large plants with many data points. Siemens distinguishes two lines:

POL6x8POL648, POL688, POL698 - the more powerful line with BACnet/IP, more simultaneous connections and optional OPC UA and SNMP

Which controller fits depends on the number of data points, bus systems and operating concept. We check this upfront based on the I/O list - and tell you when a compact Climatix S400 is the better choice.

These figures are based on the Siemens system limits for VVS11. Which functions require a licence is stated in the respective data sheet - we clarify this before quoting.

  1. Specification

    Plant schematic, functional description, I/O list - including choice of controller, modules and licences.

  2. Development

    Control application in Climatix Project Studio Automation based on the Climatix library; existing SAPRO projects are migrated.

  3. Configuration

    Parameterisation, operating pages, data point mapping for BACnet, Modbus and cloud in SCOPE.

  4. Test & commissioning

    I/O test in the control panel, online test, on-site commissioning and connection to Climatix IC.

Frequently asked questions

Do you only program the S400 or also POL controllers?

Both. We develop for every Climatix controller - the POL63x, POL64x, POL68x and POL69x as well as the compact S400 (POS455/POS466).

What is the difference between POL6xx and POL6x8?

The POL6x8 controllers (POL648, POL688, POL698) are the more powerful line: BACnet/IP with up to 500 objects, considerably more simultaneous connections and optional OPC UA and SNMP. POL6xx (POL636, POL638, POL687) offers more slots for communication modules in return.

Can you take over existing SAPRO projects?

Yes. SAPRO projects can be migrated to Climatix Project Studio Automation. We analyse the existing application, bring it up to date and develop it further.

Which firmware do the controllers need for Climatix IC?

POL63x and POL68x connect to Climatix IC from BSP version VVS11.64, the current version is VVS11.78. Older controllers can usually be upgraded - we check this before the project starts.
