Climatix IC connection

Climatix IC is Siemens' cloud platform for Climatix controllers. We connect your plants, set up data points, alarms and access rights, and make sure operators and service teams can always see what the plant is doing.

Getting the controller into the cloud

  1. Network

    IP configuration of the controller: DHCP or static address, gateway and DNS.

  2. Cloud connection

    CSL configuration with the tenant key, then enabling the connection - in exactly this order.

  3. Registration

    Activation of the plant in the Climatix IC tenant by the tenant administrator.

  4. Data points

    Cloud mapping from the watch pages: which values are visible and which may be changed remotely.

Requirements

NetworkOutbound connection via port 443 (HTTPS). Proxies are not supported - the connection must go directly to the internet.
FirmwareA sufficiently recent BSP version on the controller; older versions can usually be updated.
ApplicationA valid, loaded application with cloud mapping.
TenantAccess to a Climatix IC tenant; we help with setup and access rights.

The connection is established by the controller. The operator therefore needs neither a VPN nor any open inbound ports - a major advantage over conventional remote maintenance.

Frequently asked questions

The controller won't connect - what is usually wrong?

In most cases one of three things: port 443 is blocked outbound, the network requires a proxy, or the tenant key is wrong. If registration hangs, the key is almost always the cause, not the network.

Do I need a VPN for Climatix IC?

No. The controller establishes the connection itself via HTTPS. No inbound ports need to be opened.

Can existing plants be retrofitted?

Usually yes, provided the controller has an Ethernet interface and its firmware can be updated. We check this in advance based on controller type and BSP version.

How do you avoid false alarms?

With a deliberate alarm concept: default limits from the library rarely suit the specific plant. We define alarms to match the plant, often with a common fault signal on the closed-circuit principle.
